Gel BIAB Nails

In preparation for your nail appointment…

1. Do not use any handcreams on the day, before your appointment. This can create a barrier on the nails and cause gel to lift off.

2. Do not use any cuticle oil or other nail products on the day, before your appointment.

3. Please wash and scrub your nails before your appointment to remove any dirt, makeup, food and grime that may be lodged under your nails.

4. I ask that you send any designs you would like, to me before your appointment! This saves you having to go on your phone during your appointment, but also allows me to check you have booked to correct treatment for the extra time needed.

5. Please have an idea ready in your mind of the colour/design you would like.

6. Please ensure you have booked the correct thing, this includes if you want any nail art or French tips!

7. Please inform me as soon as possible if you will need any nail extensions to fix a broken nail (£5 per extension on top of your nail appointment infill/overlay price)

8. Please do not attend your appointment if you are in any way unwell, please let me know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.

During your appointment…

1. Please do not bring food to your appointment with you.. a drink is fine!

2. Please do not touch your nails once I have started working on them, oils from your hands will transfer and cause the gel to not adhere properly!

3. Please do not touch your face as oils can transfer onto your nails and cause the gel to not adhere properly!

4. Please avoid touching your phone. If you need to show me a design on your phone, please do so at the start of the appointment, or send it to me before hand.

5. Nails are actually still wet and sticky until the very end, so keep your hands on the desk, and only remove your hands from the lamp when you’ve been asked. (This stops any pesky hairs or dust getting onto your perfectly painted nails!)

6. Please be super careful when putting your hand in the lamp, if you do knock it, please remove your hand immediately and let me know!

7. If you aren’t sure or don’t like the colour or design you have chosen, please tell me before your hand goes in the lamp! It’s easy to wipe off and remove, but once it’s been in the lamp, it’s super awkward to remove! So please let me know before it goes in the gel lamp.

8. Please stay as still as possible, moving around makes my job much harder and it can actually ruin the perfection of your manicure!

9. Please don’t pick anything! if you see something that’s bugging you, please just let me know and I can fix that nail! (sharp bit of nail, dust, hard skin)

10. Please don’t be afraid of asking me for a silent appointment if you just need some time to yourself. Sometimes we just need some peace and quiet.

After your appointment…

1. Don’t glue your nail fi it starts to lift or break/snap! This could potentially trap moisture or bacteria in your nail. It also then affects my work at your next appointment, its super hard to remove, and usually doesn’t even come off (meaning your gel could lift!)

2. Oil your cuticles at least once a day, twice is preferable. This keeps your nails healthy, strong and hydrated. Dehydrated nails can cause your nails to curl or chip away from the gel.

3. Pre book your next appointment (or two!). Infills are required every 3-4 weeks. Nails that go over 5 weeks, are subject to an extra £15 charge on top of the infill price, due to the extra time and product required. Please remember to book this extra service if you are going over 5 weeks for your next appointment.

4. Do not peel or pick at the gel, this can damage your natural nails and gel.

5. Avoid using your nails as tools as this could lead to cracking. Instead use the pads of your fingers (for example typing)

6. Use gloves when cleaning, gardening or washing up. Cleaning products usually contain harsh chemicals and solvents which can soften your gels.

7. Avoid long periods of time in water (hot tubs, swimming pools, hot baths, washing up)

8. Do not use any hand creams that contain Lanolin, this can cause your gel to lift and/or peel.

9. Remember dye from new jeans, socks, tights or shoes can stain gel polish. Wear gloves when cooking with spices such as turmeric or curry powders as they can stain the nails.

10. Avoid filing your nails as this will break the seal of the gel and can lead to chipping. Chips can happen through wear and tear also.

11. Be gentle with your nails, they’re not bullet proof and will snap or break if force is applied. We can tell by your nail bed if unnecessary force has caused the break!
